This section provides information to help guide Sailors through the voluntary education process. You will find information about the Joint Services Transcript (JST) including how to read the document, what it contains, and how to contact JST for various issues. Additionally, information about the
Joint Services Transcript (JST) documents American Council on Education (ACE) recommended college credit for military training and occupational experience. The JST is an academically accepted record validated by ACE. The primary purpose of the JST is to assist Sailors in obtaining college credit for their military experience.
A DD214 may be necessary to document training and experience that is not eligible but not contained on a Sailor's JST.
The JST includes American Council on Education (ACE) recommended credit for each of the below in separate sections:
JSTs are broken into two sections:
The JST Summary is an unofficial section of the transcript and is formatted to resemble many college transcripts. It streamlines the JST, providing an overview of all ACE recommended credits found on the first section of the transcript. This section also contains cross-references to the appropriate Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Course Category Codes.
This section is also an unofficial part of the transcript that provides additional information to assist in advising Sailors. This section may contain one or more of the following:
Foreign credit evaluations are not accepted. TA funded courses are automatically reported on the JST. Non-TA funded courses can be added to the JST as long as they were taken while on active duty. Sailors should have an official transcript sent directly from the academic institution to the JST Operations Center:

If the school utilizes a secure parchment service, transcripts may be transmitted electronically to email@example.com. The Sailor should e-mail the JST Operations Center at firstname.lastname@example.org to notify them that they are having an official transcript sent from the school for the purpose of adding non-TA funded courses to their JST. E-mail should also include the Sailor's name, rate/rank and contact information.
In accordance with the DOD MOU Navy addendum, all academic institutions are required to submit degree completions to the Navy. This can be accomplished by mailing official transcripts to the JST Operation Center (see above for address)
